A Note on Process
Because the tools used in making a work should not be confused with the mind that made it.
The writing is mine.
Over many years, I wrote the more than 1,200 original aphorisms that became the three volumes of Consider If You Will. Artificial intelligence did not write the aphorisms.
During the process of shaping that body of work into books, I used AI as an organizational aid. The aphorisms were sorted and resorted—many times—into possible themes and categories so I could compare structures, recognize relationships, and arrive at the final arrangement. The language already existed. The decisions about meaning, placement, sequence, and final form remained mine.
The visual concepts likewise began with my own ideas and photographs. AI-assisted tools were used to explore and develop certain cover assets from that original direction, much as other digital tools are used during design and production.
Technology assisted the arrangement and exploration. It did not supply the observations, the language, or the point of view.
That distinction matters to me. These books represent my writing, my judgment, and my responsibility for what appears on the page.
